Dusting off the Running Shoes

We had a great weekend doing absolutely nothing! Sometimes it just feels great to lounge around, take a bike ride in the afternoon, rent some movies, and give the old couch some love. It was exactly what we needed, especially Charlie, after a long trip away from home.

But as always it's back into the grind and while Charlie is busy working at the mine, I lucked out and found a great running partner. Last week when we went to the family center for some playtime, we met Suzy and her 2 year old daughter Autumn. We ended up having so many similar interests that we exchanged numbers, vowing to meet up for a run.You see, Suzy had just lost her old running partner, due to kids with very busy hockey schedules, and was also anxious to get back into running. Since then we have taken the girls for daily runs and are signing up for the 10K on September 9th. I still can't believe I found a running partner so soon! I thought for sure my running shoes were going to collect some dust here in Fort Mac. It'll be great to get back into doing races again. My waistline will also thank me!!

What's great is that Aniela now has a little friend that she will get to know real well. Likewise, I not only have a great new friend but one who grew up in Fort Mac and knows all the in and outs of the town...man did I luck out!!
