Where In The World Is Charlie?...

In order to document all the places Charlie goes to on his business trips I have decided to start the: "Where in the world is Charlie?" series on our blog. Some trips are within the Unites States but given that he is in Global Mining many of his travels take him to some pretty remote area of the world!

So where in the world is Charlie right now?...

Northeast Siberia

Find the city of Magadan above and imagine flying 3 hours north...and thats where
Charlie is

Charlie in Magadan, Russia

Three hours north of Magadan, Russia is the Kupol mine. It is mainly a gold mine and Charlie is doing a site assessment up there. He has been gone since last Tuesday and we sure miss him. Communication is harder when he is so far away (doesn't help he is 18 hours ahead) but the few times I have talked to him he says it's very cold. The temps are -40/50 and it's extremely windy, as well as humid due to the proximity of the sea. He did say though that the mine site and camp were very nice which helps when you are literally in the middle of no where. It's always nerve-wracking when Charlie leaves to go abroad. But this trip was more so because of the length of travel. Three days just to get there! The mine is also underground which, for obvious reasons, has it's own risks . He starts to head home on Wednesday and we are praying for good weather so that he doesn't get stuck in Siberia. If he misses his flight out of Magadan on Thursday then the next flight into Moscow isn't until the following Tuesday!
