Winter finally arrived last Wednesday and we got a good amount of snow. The kids couldn't wait to get out and play in it and try out their new sleds. I have to admit that I couldn't wait to get out in it too. I love the white stuff. Even Zoe enjoyed a ride.
With the thrill of the first snow fall we also couldn't resist getting the skis out to give Charles his first ski experience. Our cul de sac has a good slope to it so we used it. Charles actually did well and was a trooper. Aniela was jealous enough to squeeze her foot into the boots that she first wore when she was 2! Good thing she has little feet. She jumped right on the skis and went down the hill. I think she will have no problem getting back on the slopes as Charlie hopes to take her skiing before the winter is over.
Charles "skiing" for the first time
Aniela just had to try it
A nice meal of Raclette and smoked salmon after playing outside in the cold
However, the best of the weekend was by far the igloo Charlie made with the kids. We received the mold in Canada but it didn't work well in Fort Mac because the snow was so powdery. But it works great here in Peoria on the wet snow. It took a lot of effort but the kiddos helped their daddy put up an awesome igloo. Unfortunately it has melted already because mother nature is a little bi-polar this year. One day the temps are in the teens and the next there back up into the 50's. Aniela was so sad about the igloo she even started to cry. I'm glad we took advantage of the few days of snow while we had them because who knows when we'll get it again.
All that hard work...so sad

Yeah granny and grandpa miss the babies but
don't miss the snow. The white we see is sand
leading to the blue sea. Grandpa figured out how
to see image on his kindle3G. Cute snow bunnies.
