A Guys Weekend

Tearing down the road to the dunes

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and fathers day. While Aniela and I held down the fort Charlie had an amazing time quading on his new four wheeler. He and 4 other guys went to the "Sand Dunes" this weekend which are about 140 mi North of Fort Mac.

The trip started on Friday mid morning where they hauled all the quads about an hour north from our house. The road then literally ends and is barricaded off during the summer (this is the start of what would be the ice roads in the winter). At this point they parked their trucks and trailers and unloaded their gear for a 100 mile off road ride on their four wheelers to the Sand Dunes! They set up camp at a site located in the Six Lakes area. There they were able to set up all their gear, fish, sleep, relax and do whatever it is that men do in the outdoors!

But the most important part of the trip of course was the sand dunes which were only a little ways north from the camp site. As you can see from the pictures they literally look like sand dunes in the middle of northern Alberta. It looks like the boys had a blast tearing up the dunes in their quads and I have a feeling this is going to be a tradition every year!

To end the weekend Charlie returned home in time for a laid back fathers day meal of homemade lasagna, chocolate cake, and father's day hugs from his girls!

We can tell he had a good time by the amount of sand in his teeth from smiling so big.

Glad he made it back alive and hope he took a shower before the hugs.
