Gone Fishin'

We had a great Labour Day and decided to spend the afternoon fishing by the river. Charlie has been on a major fishing marathon and is getting his time in before the winter hits. He hasn't had too much luck catching any fish but has been speaking to some of the other fisherman for some tips. On my run today Suzy mentioned a way to get down to the river where Charlie has been wanting to go, but never knew how to get too. She even showed me the trail head on our run this morning. So we took advantage of the warm weather and joined Charlie on a hike to explore this new fishing spot.

Our neighbors Jackie and Al joined us on the adventure as well. They have been so welcoming since the first day we met. Jackie and I go on walks frequently and Al is the one who invited Charlie four wheeling on fathers day. How lucky are we to have such great neighbors again!! Aniela also loves them and wants to go over each time we pass their house on trips to the mailbox.

The fishing spot ended up being beautiful and Charlie finally caught his first walleye!! It was a beauty too. It measured 22 inches in length and was at least 5 pounds. And while Charlie fished we had a chance to explore. Aniela had a blast playing in the sand, looking at all the rocks, and pointing out the helicopters as they swooped over our heads. The blueberry festival was going on and helicopter rides were being offered.

Now that he got his first bite I know Charlie can't wait to get back out and catch some more. His goal is to stock up the deep freezer for the winter and he just might get a chance since in a few weeks the walleye are supposed to be in abundance!! We'll let you know how the fish tastes when we cook it up.

muddy she was...I don't think we can fry the fish as well as you do Tod...you'll have to give us pointers in october. In the mean time we will try and stock up!

Who is bigger the fish or Aniela??? And I'm glad Charlie's stocking the freezer- apparently the grocery stores are few and far between- :) Enjoy the fishies!
