Officially Canadian Residents!

We made it!!!
Were in Canada!! We arrived in Calgary last night, about two hours in from the border. The day before we had made such good timing that yesterday we were able to take a scenic route and go through Glacier National Park in northern Montana. The Park was only 20 miles south of the border crossing. It was so beautiful as we wound through the mountains, aspens, and followed the crystal clear river through the park.We wished we could have stayed longer and hope to one day return for some great camping.
After leaving the park it was only moments till the border crossing and I started to anticipate what it would be like. We ended up making it through with no problems. Charlie had his work visa and residents card already so Aniela and I just had to get one. Then they registered Charlies hunting guns and we were off. We of course had to get out and take a picture in front of the "Welcome to Alberta" sign. As we started driving it suddenly hit us that we "weren't in Kansas" anymore, although you could have fooled me because there was nothing but straight roads and open plains all around us. It was a slower trip with Charlie being cautious of the speed limit since it is in the metric system and Canada is known for their video enforced speeding surveillance. It's so hard to see those small dark red kilometer numbers on our dashboard! Aniela was also a perfect angel the whole way to Calgary since she was sleeping soundly in the back. She must have been exhausted from the long days on the road. Either that or she had given up the fact that when she is in her seat there is not much she can do but sleep and hope that when she wakes she can get out!

Today we are off to Edmonton where we will stay until Monday to meet the driver and declare all our possessions with customs. We hope that goes just as smoothly as the border crossing so that we can make our way up to Ft. McMurray! On Tuesday the truck is to arrive at the house and then the fun of unpacking begins. We'll be back on the net in Ft. Mac...see you then!
