Just a quick update on this past weekend...
Friday night Aniela was invited to her best friend Kelsey's house for a sleepover. It was a pretty big deal since it was her first ever friend sleepover. I knew she would do great since she has had no problems in the past spending the night with family. It was another milestone for our little girl!

That same night we took Charles and Zofia to a Family Fun Night at Charles' preschool. They both got to dress up in their Halloween costumes, play some games, eat popcorn, and hang out with friends from school. The best part was sampling the candy they won at the game booths. Zoe is not going to have any problems understanding what to do on Halloween night...that girl knows her candy already.

On Saturday Charlie went out for the opening of duck season. He accompanied a few coworkers and invited his brother-in-law, Eric, to join as well. From what I could gather it's basically a morning of a whole bunch of hunters that sit together in a duck blind, cook, eat, talk, and then if a flock of ducks come by they shoot at them. I think I would enjoy that more than the all day solitary confinement of deer hunting. Although a day of peace and quite sounds like a nice change from my usual day of screaming, bickering kids. I just may decide to take up hunting as a hobby in the near future!

It ended up being a slow opening to duck season but between all the hunters Charlie brought home a fair amount. Many of the hunters just gave their ducks to Charlie since they didn't get enough to justify butchering just 1 or 2. And since Charlie will never say no to putting meat in the freezer he said he would take them. Duck is actually very good. Charlie wraps the breast in bacon and grills it up..believe me it's delicious!

The hunting didn't end there as Charlie took a vacation day on Monday and decided to go deer hunting out at our land. Bow season opened about a month ago and Charlie has been anxious to get one with his brand new bow. He succeeded yesterday and got a beautiful doe. He gave this first deer to his parents. Granny and Grandpa were thrilled to have another year of deer meat for the freezer.

Yes it's hunting season! I bet everyone can't wait to see more posts on dead animals and our interesting meals of wild game ;-)

Yeah! Awesome! Beautiful grandkids and some "free-range" meat for our freezer! Great job, Charlie!
