Just The Girls....

Between a few errands and Anielas activities that have started up this week my sister has gotten a pretty good picture of what Fort McMurray is like....definitely a boom town. There is not much to do up here for "tourists" and although she came up to be with us I wish there were more activities, sites, or a decent shopping venue! We are saving the oil sands tour for the weekend since her husband will be flying up and joining us. Of course there is always golfing, the outdoors, and fishing...all activities difficult to do with a 4 month old in tow or for that matter a 2 year old.

An interesting potty technique!
Speaking of 2 year olds, Aniela has also decided to become a big girl this week and potty train! Sunday morning she woke up saying she wanted to wear underpants. I played along and things are going great. We even attempted our first excursion out of the house without pullups on Tuesday and made it through library story time. Yesterday we had our first day with no "accidents"! I am excited that she is doing so well and hope it continues because it's exhausting to potty train. One takes for granted the ease of diapers and not worrying about rushing to the potty chair or making illegal u-turns in the neighborhood when your toddler says "mommy pee pee". Thank goodness we were only a block from the house and she is starting to understand the concept of holding it in.

Aside from potty training drama Aniela has started all her activities this week. As mentioned above story time was on Tuesday, we had our first gymnastics today which Aniela was thrilled about. She was a pro this time around and showing all the younger first timers how it's done. Saturday we start swimming which is new for us this fall. Charlie laughs and says these activities are more for me than her. There is definitely some truth to that since I enjoy getting out into civilization with adult interaction from time to time! The weather has also been nicer these last few days and we've been able to enjoy the outdoors with trips to the park. Aniela is a monkey around the playground now and likes to give me a heart attack as she scales the jungle gym! I think she's just showing off for her cousin.

LOVE Aniela in her pigtails and bibs. There isn't much cuter than a kid in bibs!! So glad you are enjoying your time with Ella and Gabby. I know you'll be sad to see them go...
