Where In The World Was Charlie...

With a new position comes more travel and Charlie has been doing plenty of it. The customer that he covers is primarily in South America so he has been to both Brazil and Chile these past few weeks.

Charlie is no stranger to traveling in remote, unsettled regions of the world, however this trip brought his first encounter with a natural disaster. During the end of his travels, Antofagasta, Chile which is one of the driest regions in the world received almost an inch of rain. This brought mass flooding to the region. It's crazy to think that such a small amount of rain could cause so much disaster. During a meeting Charlie even witnessed a woman being rescued out of her home as flood waters rose to dangerously high level in  her home. The whole town was shut down, including the airport.

The following day the rain had stopped and the airport reopened but with the airport backed up from the previous day Charlie missed his flight into Santiago.  He had to fight his way through a mosh pit of people trying to rebook their flights, and eventually made is way out of the region and home. He was only a day late but after not seeing him for 2 weeks it felt like an eternity. I have so much respect and gratitude for those military families that go months/years at a time while their loved ones are away.
