Swimming Update...

Right before the first swim meet
So the kids have dove right into this whole summer swimming thing. The first few practices and swim meets were a little rough but Aniela and Charles are getting the hang of things. Charlie and I are also a little more relaxed now that we've had a few meets under our belts. I think we were more nervous as their parents then they were. Especially since the first meet was after only 3 days of practice! Even Charles swam in them. Although the actual "swimming" part is still under interpretation. It's more of a "pull along the edge stroke" but he is improving!  Good thing summer club swimming is so laid back.

Every practice the kiddos make so much progress. Charles has gone from holding onto the rope after a few strokes to being able to do about 10 without stopping. Aniela can swim a 50 yard freestyle and is doing so well. She is loving every second of it. What a great opportunity for the kids to experience what the sport of swimming is all about.

Zofia is continuing to hang out by the baby pool. She especially likes fun Fridays because all the kids have swim practice at the same time so there are plenty of younger siblings to play with at the pool. On these fridays the practices are goofy and fun with a different theme each week. This week was pajama day. Aniela and Charles couldn't wait to jump in the pool with them on. They also have fun diving off the diving board while being launched marshmallows. Charles and Aniela still need to work on the catching part but they still retrieve their marshmallow out of the water and gobble it up!
Ready to dive in with their p.j.'s

The baby pool is a happening place on Fridays

It was devoured by the time he got to the stairs

I am slowly getting used to being a revolving pack mule. With three little ones it's 5 days of non-stop packing of gear, drying towels, rinsing and washing suits. Driving back and forth is not the most ideal with these gas prices either. But like with anything kid related, especially when your kids enjoy it so much, it's worth it. Plus Charlie and I feel that the ability to swim is such an important life-saving skill that the sooner they become strong swimmers the better.
