Memorial Weekend "Campout" 2013...

Well we attempted to have another memorial day weekend campout with Charlies family this year but the weather didn't cooperate! Last year we had heat indexes of 110 and this year the rain and thunderstorms prevented us from even going out to Shady Grove. Those that camp know the prep involved in getting things ready so it was not something we would do unless we knew it would be a miserable weekend. And miserable it was...the rain came on Saturday morning and is still going. It was so disappointing!

We didn't give up on the weekend though and decided to take all our things and head up Charlies sisters for an indoor "campout". It ended up being a great weekend and the kids had a blast playing together. Granny and Grandpa drove up to for a day butnunfortunately I didn't get any pictures with them. We have decided from here on out we are not going to plan a campout date. Rather when the weather looks nice we are going to pack up our things and just go. I really think we need to sneak up on mother nature because once we mention anything about camping the weather is horrible. It's a challenge now...we will go camping!

Aunt Susanna set up a tent inside the house for the kids

Zofia has always been a climber

Might as well do some DIY projects if were stuck inside. Trying out Annie Sloan chalk paint on some side tables. They turned out awesome.

Charlie and Eric making breakfast

Patrick and Charles playing games

The girls hanging out

It was fun dressing Zofia up. Rebecca said she was like a life-size barbie.

The girls doing their poses.

When you can't have s'mores outside then turn on the gas oven

Yum!

We don't have one of these out at the farm

Homemade fried donuts...we definitely still ate like we were camping

When the rain held up for a little bit Aunt Susanna had a tie-dye project for us

Hotdogs over the stove...didn't really work but it was worth a try!

While the men were frying up sweet potatoes in the garage Susanna and I kept them company by sitting in the side-by side while enjoying our hotdogs.
Pretty much just like the real thing!

Lots of great memories made this week-end! Not letting a little rain spoil your fun. Grandpa is getting hungry for those roasted marshmellows....yum!

Love you all,
Granny and Grandpa
