Charlie spent all day Valentines day building a rock wall. He is amazing and put a lot of thought into this project. From a beautiful piece of birch, some 2 by 4's, his tools, and a lot of elbow grease the kids now have an awesome rock climbing wall in the basement. Of course we couldn't have had it up so fast without our friend Dayven picking up the rock holds and landing mattress for us in Edmonton. He is in town this week on business and we put in a shopping order before he headed up! When Dayven got in last night the guys put the final touches on the wall, mounted it, and everyone chipped in on where to put the holds. Aniela went to bed at 9:15 last night because she was so excited. This morning the first thing she wanted to do was climb the wall. Charlie was thrilled to see all his hard work put into use!

I love the wall! You will have to write a tutorial- looks SOOO cool and Aniela is doing so great! I finally figured out the Backyardigans are the soundtrack- :-)
awesome!
no gumbies or hangdogs here.
love watching Aniela lock off and barndoor.
Dirt me
Glad Dayven could earn his keep!
The girls look so cute on the wall. Gabby is sure getting big. What a doll! I'm sure you and Ella are having a ball together.
gumbie ... a first time rock climber (Aniela's obviously a pro)
hangdog ... some who just hangs from the rope and doesn't climb. Again Aniela just scrambles up the wall without hesitation.
Lock off .. climbing with a one handed grip strong enough to swing the free hand up
Barndoor .. a style of climbing where your body swings up the rock face (like a barn door swinging open)
Dirt me ... a signal for other climbers to lower you back to the ground.
I WANT A CLIMBING WALL!!!!
I second the tutorial, please ask charlie to type something up with supplies and instructions, maybe we can get one built down on the lower floor, or in tomasz room!!!
Kevin is *SO* jealous. If we had a basement we'd totally be importing Charlie to help build one for Claire (and Nate!)
