We had a great Easter weekend and with the beautiful weather we have been having it felt like Easter too. The grass is green, the tulips are in full bloom, and the trees are opening up more everyday.
It started with a little prep work on Friday night...
Then Saturday we spent the day with my side of the family. My sisters were both in town so it was a cousin-palooza!
At noon we went to Holy Family Church for the Easter basket blessing. Holy Family is the parish I grew up in. My parents suggested the tradition be started their way back in the day and it's so nice that they still continue to honor it for the local Polish community. Basically you just fill your Easter basket with a variety of foods to bless so that on Easter Sunday, after mass, you feast on that blessed food. Things generally found in the baskets are bread, polish sausage, salt, pepper, Easter eggs, butter, fruit, candy, and Easter figurines for decor.
When we got back to my Parents house the cousins had an Easter Egg hunt which started the candy collection for the weekend! Then later in the evening we had a nice dinner.
On Easter Sunday the kids woke up to candy filled Easter baskets and hidden eggs from the Easter bunny. Zofia even got in on the action.
Then as usual on holiday mornings we scrambled to get into our Sunday best and make it to Church on time. Always a challenge with three little ones. We did make it and thankfully my parents got there early enough to save a whole pew for us!
After church we then had Charlies family over for Easter lunch. Great Grandma Mullen was even able to join us which was a treat since she had never been to our place before!
Granny and Grandpa spoiled the grandkids with gifts and a money Easter egg hunt. They figured the kids were going to be candied out so they gave them the cutest sock coin purses and filled the eggs with coins. You'd think the kids would be sick of hunting eggs by this point but they were as excited as ever.
It was also Granny and Grandpas 40th Wedding Anniversary! Still in love after 40 years and looking better than ever.
It was a fun, family packed Easter weekend and we wouldn't have it any other way. Happy Easter to everyone!
